Senator
Tod Bowman of Maquoketa was elected in 2010 to
the Iowa Senate. He represents District 13,
which includes Clinton, Key West of Dubuque, Maquoketa, Bellevue
and the rest of Jackson County.
Senator Bowman is the vice-chair of the Senate
Transportation Committee. He also serves on the
Agriculture, Education, Economic Growth and
Local Government committees, as well as the
Administration & Regulation Budget Subcommittee.
Tod has been an educator and coach for the past
22 years, serving the past 15 years in the Maquoketa
Community School District. He teaches Political
Science and Psychology at Maquoketa High School
and at Clinton Community College. Tod also
teaches high school Sociology and Current
Events. Tod recently retired as the head
wrestling coach at Maquoketa High School but
still coaches eighth-grade
football.
Tod has served as Model UN Director at Maquoketa
Schools, a Close-Up Advisor, Service Learning
Coordinator. He also serves on the Iowa Core
Leadership Team for Maquoketa Schools. Tod is
president of the Maquoketa Area Education
Association.
After graduating from Maquoketa High School in
1983, Tod received a BA in Social Sciences and
Education from Luther College. He earned his MA
in Education from Western Illinois University.
In addition to his duties as a teacher and
coach, Tod is active in other areas at the Maquoketa Schools
and is a Little League coach.
Tod has been married to his wife Renee for 17
years, and they have three children: Beau (14),
Levi (11) and Addie (8). They are active members of
First
Lutheran Church of Maquoketa.
