State Senator Tom Courtney is currently serving his third term in the Iowa Senate. He represents Senate District 44, which includes Des Moines and Louisa counties, and five precincts in Muscatine County. Senator Tom Courtney is the Senate Majority Whip and chair of the Government Oversight Committee. He also serves on Agriculture, Labor & Business Relations, Commerce, Rules & Administration, and State Government committees. A member of UAW Local 807, Sen. Courtney is retired from Case/New Holland after 30 years of service. He has served on the Iowa Workforce Development Board, the Southeast Iowa Health Center Board, and the Burlington School Board Sen. Courtney is a six-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He and his late wife, Donna, have three children: Dawn, a special education teacher; Shawna, an elementary teacher; and Brian, who works as a paramedic in Colorado. Sen. Courtney also has four grandchildren. |
