Appel: New report increases push for change
A new report issued today by Governor Culver is another signal of growing momentum for changing the way state government does business, according to the co-chair of the legislature’s bipartisan State Government Reorganization Commission.
“Iowa taxpayers can be confident that the first major review of state government operations in nearly 25 years will result in real change,” said State Sen. Staci Appel of Ackworth. “The Legislature will review the Governor’s recommendations as well as those received from citizens from across Iowa. The time is right for Republican and Democratic legislators to come together to approve changes during the 2010 session that will provide better services to Iowans, cut government bureaucracy, and save taxpayers’ dollars.”
