Iowa employers optimistic about state’s economy
A new survey shows Iowa employers are more optimistic about our state’s economy than their national counterparts.
Forty-seven percent of Iowa employers are somewhat or very optimistic about job growth, according to the Hamilton Hiring Survey. In addition, 41 percent of Iowa employers expect to hire over the next quarter. The majority of the jobs will be added in entry-level and mid-level positions, a positive trend revealing the jobs are either new positions or ones that were previously not filled.
It comes as no surprise to me that Iowa is bouncing back from the national recession better than other states. Employment expert Tom Hamilton says our state’s diversified economy in agriculture, manufacturing, financial and business services, retail, health care and government allows Iowa to weather economic ups and downs better than most states.
