The Iowa Finance Authority recognized Senator Matt McCoy of Des Moines as the “2012 Legislative Friend of Housing.” The award was presented at the HousingIowa Conference awards reception on September 5.

The award acknowledges individual efforts to participate in committees involving affordable housing legislation, strong grass roots initiatives advancing affordability and improving the lives of Iowans through homeownership.

“Senator McCoy’s passion for providing funding for safe and affordable housing for low-income Iowans is evident through the thousands of individuals all over Iowa that have benefited,” said Dave Jamison, IFA Executive Director.  “His leadership extended to the homeless and homeless veteran population. And he relentlessly tackled difficult issues and pioneering legislation for affordable housing.”

The Iowa Finance Authority (IFA), a self-supporting public agency, works to finance, administer, advance and preserve affordable housing and to promote community and economic development for Iowans.
