Changes for Off-Highway Vehicles

The registration renewal period for off-highway vehicles (OHVs) begins September 4 for 2013 and will feature a new electronic registration system.

As the system is phased in, Iowans will need to renew their OHV registration at their county recorder’s office. To make the process as easy as possible, bring your most recently issued registration, vehicle identification number and title information.

Certain OHVs are now required to display a current Department of Natural Resources (DNR) user permit in addition to a valid registration decal. The effective date for a DNR user permit also has been changed from calendar year to a registration cycle. Permits purchased after September 1 will be effective until December 31, 2013.
