Praise for Iowa effort to evaluate tax incentives
Which tax incentives do the most to help create jobs and grow the economy? Iowa is a national leader when it comes to evaluating the effectiveness of state tax incentives, according to a Pew Center study of all 50 states.
During the 2010 session, the Legislature created a “Legislative Tax Expenditure Committee.” Composed of Democratic and Republican legislators from both the House and Senate, the committee reviews each tax incentive program at least every five years and reports on the state’s return on investment.
Our top priority is helping create jobs here in Iowa. That’s why we strongly support on-going reviews of every economic development program, so we know what works and where we can improve.
