Danielson calls for delay on changes to Iowa’s teacher preparation requirements

State Senator Jeff Danielson (D-Cedar Falls) is calling on Iowa’s Administrative Rules Review Committee to delay changes to the educational requirements and financial costs to students studying to be teachers at Iowa colleges and universities. The rule is being proposed by the Iowa Department of Education. “This is a significant change for enrolled students in Iowa teacher preparation programs, at public and private universities. While I’m supportive of improving teacher preparation programs, the proposal is unfair to enrolled students, changing the rules in midstream or worse yet, just as they are prepared to cross the finish line.”

Danielson named “Dogs’ Best Friend” by Iowa Voters for Companion Animals

State Senator Jeff Danielson has been named “Dogs’ Best Friend” by Iowa Voters for Companion Animals. The honor is in recognition of Danielson’s efforts to ensure human treatment for dogs, cats and other pets. “I’m proud to stand by our four-legged friends and grateful to all the Iowans who are passionate about ensuring companion animals get healthy, humane treatment each and every day,” Danielson said. The “Dogs’ Best Friend” award will be presented on Monday, October 22, at the Cedar Bend Humane Society, where Sen. Danielson and his family adopted their chocolate Lab, Coco.
