There are more students than ever at the University of Iowa and Iowa State University. Last spring, House Republicans voted to CUT $31 million from Iowa’s public universities. Hundreds of students came to the statehouse and helped Senate Democrats force Republicans to change course.

Education budget boosts key job creation efforts

On Monday, May 7, the Senate voted 28-19 and the Iowa House voted 92-5 for a bipartisan, compromise education budget that includes key job creation measures. The legislation now goes to Governor Branstad for his signature.
