About Senator Fraise

Gene Fraise was elected in 2008 to his seventh term in the Iowa Senate. He represents Senate District 46, which includes Henry and Lee counties.

Senator Fraise is chair of the Judiciary Committee, vice-chair of the Agriculture Committee. He also serves on the Appropriations, Labor, Ethics, and State Government committees and the Justice Systems Budget Subcommittee.

Gene, a farmer, is a member of the Farm Bureau, and the Iowa Corn Growers Association.  He spent seven years on the Lee County Board of Supervisors and served as its chairman in 1985.   

Gene has received numerous awards and recognitions from law enforcement, corrections and other service organizations for his efforts to make Iowa a better, safer place to live, work and raise a family.

He and his wife, Faye, recently celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus, and he and his wife attend St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point, Iowa.  They have three sons and 14 grandchildren; their one daughter passed away in 2006.
